CyberSongs - Songs About Websites

So, embedding Kina’s Digg song last week got me thinking about other songs I’ve heard that are about websites.

Not to brag or anything, but I’m KIND of the Queen of the Theme mixtape. For instance, I have managed to collect 27 songs that are all either called “Melanie” or feature a major character named “Melanie” - I call that one “Narcissism.” :D My masterpiece to date, though, is “Rockin’ While Stalkin’” - songs about stalking or being stalked. :D

This mix I’ve put together here, I have to say, is pretty cool and I’m kinda proud of it, even though it only features 6 songs.

Enjoy!

Kina Grannis - Gotta Digg Here’s the song that gave me the idea in the first place. :D

Alana Taylor - The Twitter Song It talks about Twitter AND Facebook, and even mentions Mahalo Daily :D Triple Threat

IM Love - Raining Jane This song doesn’t talk about a specific website, but…how can you not include Raning Jane? IMPOSSIBLE! God, I hope you’re not my Dad. That’s all I’m sayin’.

The Myspace Song - Good Clean Fun They know how Emo kids feel. :D

I’m a Warrior - Steven Wagenheim Only song on the list dedicated to an IM forum. Come on eWealthers - catch up! Nebula/Jamie? Nothing? :D

YouTube (A Love Song) - David Choi A lot of people claim they see a little smile at the end. I don’t. :)

Ebay - Weird Al Yankovic (contributed by xmx)

Facebook Anthem - LLP81 (I don’t think this is a band, just people that make funny videos, but it’s DAMN funny! :D ) (contributed by Ian Wilcox)

Coming Soon, hopefully, will be The Internet Killed Bookmobile by ColinSick. :D

Did I Forget Any? Leave Them In The Comments, I’ll Amend the List!

Forum Commenter’s Business Meeting Part Deux

In a follow up to what is (quite awesomely or quite sadly, depending on how you look at it) by FAR the most popular post on my blog, here is CollegeHumor’s follow-up to the HILARIOUS Forum Commenter’s Business Meeting.

I have to say, I prefer the first, but the sequel is damn funny too.

Same warning as the last time - if you have delicate sensibilities, don’t even THINK about hitting play. If you do…PWN3D! :D

Current TV Gets Even Cooler - Watch Live Tweets During the Debate!

This, from Current.tv’s Hack the Debate page:

Current & Twitter have teamed up for the very first time to integrate real-time Twitter messages (aka “tweets”) over major portions of a live television broadcast.

Hack the Debate by adding your Twitter posts to our live broadcast of the 2008 Presidential Debates.

We will broadcast as many of your debate tweets as possible right over Obama & McCain, in real time, on our live broadcast.

Here’s how to get your tweets on the big screen…RIGHT NOW.

  1. 1. Register with Twitter.
  2. 2. Chime in by including “#current” in your tweet. Example:
“This discussion about universal healthcare makes me want to pop some pills! #current”
(Btw…. We won’t be able to air every single tweet on TV, but you can see all of the #current tweets by searching #current on Twitter search.
  3. 3. If you have any questions about participating, send us a tweet @current.
  4. 4. Tune-in to Current TV right now (see channels listed on right)
I hope this gives all of you ideas about ways to integrate tech to make your content more…well…no pun intended, but…CURRENT. :D

Internet Video Marketing

The number one most important thing that you need to know is this - YOUTUBE IS NOT THE WHOLE BALLGAME! And even if it were, gaining traffic from the YouTube site itself is only half the game.

What you really want is for your videos to get ranked in the search engines for your target keyword. YouTube, although it does a good job with this, is not the best there is.

In fact, in my own personal experiences having videos rank in the search engines, YouTube was not even the front runner - not even close, in fact.

Here’s the rundown on my own personal list of video sites that rank well in search engines -

CONSISTENTLY RANK WELL:
- AOL Uncut Video
- Sharkle
- Crackle
- DailyMotion
- LiveVideo
- InfectiousVideos
- Porkolt

SOMETIMES RANK WELL:
- Revver
- Viddler
- blip.tv
- GoogleVideo
- YouTube
- Current
- MegaVideo
- MySpace
- Lulu
- Zippy (but their signup Captcha isn’t working right now)

You can easily create accounts at all of these sites and upload your videos by hand. It’s time-consuming, but it can definitely be done. If, however, you’d like a more automated solution, why not give the one week free trial of SENuke a spin?

Forum Commenter’s Business Meeting

HILARIOUS video from College Humor - what a business meeting would be like if it were run like an internet marketing forum. :D

I will warn you - there is cussing. Don’t play it if you have delicate sensibilities.

YouTube to Employ Overlay Ads

YouTube LogoCNN reported yesterday that YouTube plans to roll out semi-unobstrusive overlay ads for the first ten seconds of videos, in the bottom section of videos.

If a user opts to click on the overlay ad, the video they are watching automatically pauses and they are taken to the advertisement.

YouTube has stated that they plan to do a revenue split with the video owners, but they have not said how much the split will be.

THE GOOD - possible revenue stream
THE BAD - probably still pretty obtrusive
THE UGLY - No more streaming youtube videos on myspace, as myspace doesn’t allow videos which incorporate commercial gain for the owner. Revver.com anyone?

Back From Vacation!! :D

I had a lovely week in Lake Tahoe and now I’m back and READY TO WORK!

In the spirit of buckling down, then, allow to drop some knowledge on y’all (like how I just went “gangsta marketa” on ya? :D)

Today’s post is about YouTube. Two weeks ago, I spent two solid, focused days uploading videos to YouTube. I have consistently made ten dollars per day from them since then.

That may not sound like a lot, particularly to seasoned marketers that are making SO MUCH MORE than that every day. Believe me, I understand…I make quite a bit more than that every day myself. However, here is what impressed me about my YouTube efforts - it was truly “Set it and Forget it.”

I haven’t done ANYTHING with those videos since I uploaded them.

I haven’t promoted them, I haven’t added friends to the accounts, I haven’t commented anybody, I haven’t gotten backlinks…you get the idea.

And yet I’ve made a consistent ten dollars PER DAY since then ($140 so far), and conceivably will continue to make that for the rest of my life.

That’s a good tip about residual income. Some of you reading this said, “Two whole days’ work for ten dollars? FORGET IT!” But what about now that it’s been two weeks and it’s $140? What about after a year, when it’s $3650? What about after ten years, when I’ve made $36,500? Was the two days of effort worth it then? :D

Not to mention the fact that, now that I know how to make $10/day with this method, I can easily duplicate and leverage that system to make a few hundred dollars a day with a little time and effort.

Ain’t the internet great? :P

I honestly think it’s possible that YouTube might be the TRUE “set it and forget it” method that people have been advertising all this time!

Stay tuned for a free mini-course that will outline all my profit-pulling methods for making money from YouTube. People familiar with my Free Craigslist eCourse know that my favorite way of getting information out there is NOT by writing and selling an ebook - although I do that, too. My absolute favorite way is a free eCourse…I LOVE IT! :D
