Affiliate Marketing and advertising Rules

Many people don’t think about the rules when they get into associate internet marketing. They have a web-site, maybe a blog, but they have the site all ready to go. They have their niche picked out, and know what they want to sell. They just need to start bringing in site visitors. Acting as an associate is really not difficult, being good at it can be, but the basics are pretty easy. Something people often failt to consider is that all affiliate marketing programs have rules that need to be followed.
Affiliate marketing is pretty effortless to follow, that is unless you have many different programs that you are a part of. When you start getting so many that you cannot remember the rules, or the guidelines that you have to follow, you might have a problem. Each company has it’s own rules and it’s a bad idea to not know what they are, you might discover yourself kicked from a profitable program. Each company is allowed to make their own rules. Even so, you might come across many similarities. That does not mean that they are copying one another, or cloning their associate program so to speak, but yet it means that they have the same rules.

Affiliate marketing and advertising rules can be so very different. They can range from not mentioning the brand names that they sell anywhere on your web site, to not have that particular promote in your web site URL. Because they are so different for each program and company that you promote, you are going to have to be sure that you read each one well and make sure that you fully grasp it fully. If you all ready have your URL for your website, you may not be able to participate in some of the associate programs. This is because you will not meet the requirements for the rules.

Another rule that you are going to see often when you are into affiliate marketing marketing is the page rank rule. While most aren’t so snobbish as to say you have got to be of a high enough rank to join, most will drop you if you rank higher than they do. Nor will they allow you to have a web-site that is higher in the search engine rankings. For example, if you were marketing coffee, and you wanted to become an internet affiliate for Folgers coffee. They would not like it if you somehow managed to rank higher in searches for coffee than them, and especially not folgers coffee. It is not difficult to realize why they have this rule, they belive that would be likey to hurt their company. And, it just might. Besides, they would much rather get direct sales than pay off affiliates, and they know they are as long as they rank better than their affiliates. Who wouldn’t?

Keeping a spreadsheet of the affiliate marketing internet marketing programs that you are a part of and their rules is a great idea. This way you are never confused and know just where you will need to stand to be a part of that program. This is the best thing that you are able to do for your online affiliate marketing small business. Not only that, you will also come across that some of the web sites that have broken rules and have been caught have resulted in law suits. Keep your back side covered at all times, and make sure you know what the rules are.
